On Cliches

The Mom: Do you know what the cliche “two wrongs don’t make a right” means? For example, if Big C hit you and you hit her back.
The 9 y.o.: Yeah. That’s just not going to end well for either of us, is it?
The Mom: So what do you think it means?
The 9 y.o.: Two wrongs don’t make a right? Hmmm. Well, three lefts make a right. Or at least get you in the right direction. As opposed to the two wrongs which clearly will never make a right. Right?
