The Mom: I just heard my phone ping – who in the world is texting me at 10pm? The only people who ever text me are you, Big C, and your dad, who’s already gone to bed. My mom friends don’t text. Well, except Leah. And Molly. And Aimee.

The 13 y.o.: Mmmhmm.

The Mom: I guess if someone is texting me, it’s probably important.

The 13 y.o.: Mmmhmm.

The Mom: Ok.Really? ANOTHER text? Going to get my phone out of my purse and– BIG C!!! YOU texted me?! YOU WERE SITTING RIGHT NEXT TO ME ON THE SOFA!!!

The 13 y.o.: Too. Much. Effort. To. Speak. Words.
