*What is Fast Sunday? Members of my church are expected to fast once a month on the first Sunday. We are taught that there are three aspects to a proper fast day observance: first, abstaining from food and drink for two consecutive meals or, in other words, 24 hours; second, attending fast and testimony meeting at church; and third, giving a fast offering from the money saved from those meals to help the needy.

Our family tends to fast from Saturday after lunch through Sunday so we attend church towards the end of the fast time. The children do not yet fast, which is why I need to plan a light meal for them every month.
